Message for 100th Anniversary of Women’s Vote

100th Anniversary of Womens Vote

As we celebrate 100 years of Women’s Right to Vote, I look around and am humbled to be part of three generations of activist women in my family. Their passion and voice, tenacity and hard work inspire me to follow suit every day and to inspire other women around me to do the same.

While there is no question that we should be celebrating this milestone, this accomplishment – and the fierce women who fought hard for it – we should also be reflecting on the reality that for women of color, this right did not come until 45 years later.

Today, I hope that you look around yourselves, to not only find the women who inspire you to fight for others but also those that can join your fight, with an encouraging nudge.

This year has been a trying one, that has tested our limits, but it has also been an inspiring one, witnessing people rise up, stand up for one another, demanding respect, equity and humanity. And this is good. So good.

Let’s keep the momentum going. Let’s continue the movement toward a better future for us all.
